What did Trump say which repudiated one word of what he thought about Chequers deal? Clearly he was impressed by Theresa’s force of personality and her guts. But he did NOT say US is keen on Chequers or that it makes no difference to potential US-UK trade agreement.https://twitter.com/henrynewman/status/1017761675901104129 …

Actually think @theresa_may will be pleased with this presser. Trump calls it special relationship, backs her on Brexit (just about while noting it's complicated), praises her personally at length, says can still have trade deal, & raised Novichok poisoning + expulsions 🇬🇧🇺🇸

He said: 1) You can't just walk away. 2) He looked forward to a "great bilateral trade agreement". 3) "I hope they [the UK] will be able to trade with the US. I read reports that said that would not be possible...after speaking with the PM...it seems that will be possible"

And then mentioned EU farming barriers - which the UK will follow after Brexit thanks to the common rule book.

Doesn't matter what Trump said or didn't say. If we stay tied to the EU with this Chequers deal, there will be no point in doing a deal with us if the US must conform to EU regulations, they may as well just deal straight with the EU itself.

AS LONG AS WE CAN DO A TRADE DEAL WITH AMERICA - which we cannot do as Chequers ties us the EU's Common Rule book We would need to deviate from the Common Rule Book to do a trade deal with US - and the Chequers deal allows the EU to punish us for doing so! That's not BREXIT

Trump's strategy is usually to let people save face, whilst he's giving them a clear message off screen.

He also thought the Sun had printed ‘fake news’ by not incorporating his statement that he thought Theresa May Ok. That’s politic, if not true. He backed off when he was told that it had. Her plan is ridiculous and she should go. But not be replaced by Bounder Boris.

UK Council of Ministers vote ceased at the point the withdrawal notice was received by EU Parliament. EU sued the UK through the Courts to determine under EU Law that Royal Prerogative was invalid. Magna Carta under British Law should sue the EU for High Treason against the Crown

We withdrew from Europe when the notice to quit was delivered by the PM 18 months ago and the Lisbon Treaty ceased to apply. The UK began being a rule taker when it agreed it wouldn’t do any trade deals for 2 years, self imposed sanctions and didn’t implement Brexit vote.

Either the Crown has jurisdiction within its own borders or the Country is not Sovereign under Law. The U.K. Head of State, the Duke of Lancaster has been sacked by the EU .... I would have thought it might be a good reason to counter-sue but Mrs May doesn’t.
