"this looks like a design which was heavily subsidised by the UK taxpayer, being sold overseas, and wholly to the benefit of BAE Systems. It appears that the UK taxpayer sees none of the direct payback or royalties from that investment."

What on earth has this got to do with us leaving the EU? How did our membership of the EU ever stand in the way of Defence exports and how will leaving the EU improve our Defence marketing? You really are a most desperate and deluded individual Mr Jenkin.

Significantly smaller than the contract France has to build subs for Australia. And nothing whatsoever to do with Brexit. But I'm sure there'll be a unicorn along in a moment to tell you otherwise.

They are being built in Australia by Australia workers - and the deal proves that we can deal with non-EU countries while in the EU.

It's a welcome deal but not as lucrative as the $50bn French submarine deal ... a deal with huge add-ons as the Australians cannot build the subs themselves, so French contractors will be rubbing their hands with glee. PS - both deals signed in the

We're still in the EU & membership has not prevented this deal so what is the purpose of leaving?

Read the details, risks undertaken by UK taxpayers, any profits and royalties go to BAE, all the work is in Adelaide, and BAE’s share is half of total contract. Try not to be so bloody obtuse.

So much for not being able to trade with the rest of the world while still in the EU. And not going to bring many jobs here is it?

It's great news of course, but a) this is the type of trading we have been doing for years and b) what is the contribution of this deal to the UK economy?

Seems desperate to claim this as some sort of achievement of brexit, which it clearly is not.

Nothing whatsoever to do with Brexit. If you think differently, please explain ...
