In buckling to pressure from Tory Remainer rebels, led by Grieve and @DrPhillipLeeMP, May has more-or-less abandoned the threat the UK could leave the EU without a deal. To the chagrin of True Brexiters, No-Deal Brexit is dead https://www.facebook.com/1498276767163730/posts/2071535183171216/ …

Not so. Only committed to 5A (“a statement”) and “to look at” 5b (“seek approval” by non binding motion.) 5c (“follow any direction” [ANY!]) is not on the table. There is only agreement for discussions, not concessions. Any compromise amdt would have to be tabled by Govt in Lords

Delighted that with the help of the PM, SolicitorGeneral @RobertBuckland MP, ChiefWhip @JulianSmithUK MP & Dominic Grieve MP, those of us pushing for a #MeaningfulVote in Parliament have agreed w HMG that Ministers will bring back an Amendment giving effect to Clause (a)&(b) ✔️ pic.twitter.com/SD40pbrf5I

Freeman appears to be overplaying it. Both No10 and DD office say only agreement is to discuss. Not concessions or bringing back of amendment.

To be clear: the compromise agreed ystdy ⬇️ was to give Parliament a VOTE but NOT to tie the PMs hands in the EU negotiation. Nor put Parliament in charge of the negotiation. #NoDeal must remain a negotiating option. We agreed Clause C problematic. @BBCr4today #EUWithdrawalbill https://twitter.com/georgefreemanmp/status/1006601564792946689 …

Let's hope results today will be communicated clearer by both sides. Yesterday was a shambles. Even on Amendment 19 alone.

To be fair, it's incredibly confusing understanding the intricacies of the legal jargon in the amendments and with so many, it's difficult to keep track.

.@Anna_Soubry Mr Jenkin - you were not part of discussions. But if you are right, an equivalent amendment will be passed later in any case. Direction of travel now thankfully towards a sensible #Brexit
