Defending the Washington consensus, @RobertMackey dismisses the well established relationship between White Helmets and Salafi-jihadists as an “unverified conspiracy theory.” He then cites Bellingcat, the pro-regime change blog backed by the National Endowment for Democracy.https://twitter.com/theintercept/status/984909760628707328 …

If
@ggreenwald is concerned about the reputation of his outlet, or the accusations that@theintercept is in bed w/intellegencia, allowing this dismal piece to be published helps to further support the accusations. The Intercept blocks our voices from reaching its platform. -
As I've said many times, I'm not the editor of the Intercept, but absolutely agree that we have been inexcusably one-sided on the Syria debate: not on purpose, just because our staff writers are generally on one side. We're working hard to fix that imbalance.
-
I’m glad to hear this Glenn. As it stands, it's probably a rare case in the media where the journalists are to the right of their publishers (you and Scahill)
-
But that's the point: Jeremy and I aren't the publishers of the Intercept. We co-founded it with Laura Poitras, but then made the choice not to run, edit and manage it but instead focus on our own journalism. We help pick the EIC but that person then runs TI.
-
Aaah I see. I follow your work since Salon, followed the creation of TI and somehow totally missed this. I just assumed you, Scahill and Poitras had some sort of role like a publisher. That actually explains a lot

Because for better and worse, it's really just a bunch of independent contractor journalists.
