“During the first decade of this century, Brazil appeared to be a country that was finally reaching for the future. Now it seems mired in the past. The violence of this election has plunged Brazilians into a kind of collective convulsion.”

do you think all of JMB's voters are actual fascists?! I certainly don't think thats the case, I think it's much more complicated than that. there's a core that wholly subscribes to his agenda, maybe half, but there are many driven by other motivations

I guess a preceding question is: do you believe he’s an actual fascist? Because if that’s “more complicated” for you, then I see where our disagreement comes from. Re his voters, I’d love to hear what you think are the other motivations to support an actual fascist beyond fascism
-
hes undoubtedly a fascist!!!! I've publicly said as much: https://twitter.com/bernajurema/status/1048858136789102592 … on JMB's support, I like Toledo's analyses. here for example: https://piaui.folha.uol.com.br/medo-por-medo-da-bolsonaro/ …

Of interest: https://www.americasquarterly.org/content/aq-interview-ciro-gomes … Also isn’t he in Europe now?
-
oh I'm totally aware that ciro was a bad candidate. my idea, giving up my vote on the pstu candidate to ciro was to avoid a run-off centered around "antipetismo" vs "antibolsonarismo", not out of any inclination towards ciro. On his trip to Europe, this sums it up nicely:pic.twitter.com/wooJMszS90
