    worker productivity or reducing wages (the unit labour cost fallacy) depends on domestic policies, in particular willingness to ban low-paid/substandard work and run a hot macro policy. Trade intensifies effects of that choice by sharpening competition, but not their nature. /end

    6/6 problem for the US than trade, that doesn’t mean trade is irrelevant. I do agree with Wolf, however, in his opposition to import tariffs. They mostly create economic distortions that do nothing to address US and global trade imbalances.
