I believe it still has deep roots in Chinese psyche: the shame, the pride. Not everyone holds the values, but most don’t want to be found in public violating some fundamental values

This claim is utter nonsense! Confucius and the Chinese mind isn’t the same thing; the Chinese may have adopted some his philosophies, but they’re not any where like Confucius; the current Chinese state of mind is cruel and evil.
