bingo! this thing is ribbed, not threaded. turn all you want (it has a hex hole), but it's not going anywhere... took me a while to find out

No, unfortunately this was a manufacturing error; it was part of a set and the others were all threaded.

threading is botched?... are you using an hex key to turn this thing, because there is no shadow for a flathead or phillips screwdriver.
