30 year olds living with their parents are an increasingly common phenomenon due to the student debt, low wage growth, and spiralling rents and house prices. It's being done out of necessity. So... that would make customer lock in a necessary reaction to economic conditions?

lol no. that's not how analogies work: Demand for cacao has shot up recently, leading to rain forest being cleared for plantations. This causes loss of habitat for wildlife which could lead to extinction for some species. So... did Forrest Gump mean life is like extinction? :P
-
Then what do you mean to imply by "a 30 year old living with their parents", i.e. a situation normally forced by circumstances?
-
Obviously I meant a person that still depends on his parents because they did not teach him to be self-sufficient. Let's not overstretch the analogy until it breaks just to get into a socioeconomic discussion. Calling a bear an animal does not imply all animals are bears.
