I’m not an expert in Constitutional Law, @benwizner, but maybe in your role with the @ACLU, you can tell me how booing violates the 1st Adm. https://twitter.com/ParkerMolloy/status/857353768819732480 …

No, booing is protected by the first amendment. But the govt (here, UC Berkeley) has a duty to protect both speaker and protestors.

"Heckler's veto" is a legal term of art for when the govt says: you can't have your event because of planned protests.

Except the government, or UC Berkeley didn’t cancel Coulter’s event. She did. Her choice to cancel, not a free speech issue.

So what you're saying is. If you go to a state or city college and don't approve of the speakers they're paying for, just deal with it?

No, protest it! This is a critique of the college, not the protestors (unless violent).

If the issue is government shutting something down due to protests, why did @ACLU just post an article asking protesters to be nicer?

Could the govt be the PD that has to deal with the element that shows up to be violent to the protesters, like the few times at Berkeley?
