The success of this activism is making the "other NRA"—the National Restaurant Association—angry. So they're pulling strings in the Trump administration to punish employees who have the temerity to demand a living wage.

Here’s how the Trump rule works. If you’re a tipped worker making under $7.25 an hour, you can keep your tips. If you make $7.25 an hour or more, your employer can keep them.
That means workers in all the states that have eliminated the ugly lower minimum wage tier—sometimes called “the minimum wage for women” because so few of those earning it are men—could see their employers legally take their tips.
This is a horrible plan for many reasons. It’s also one of those clarifying moments about GOP arguments re state’s rights: when states make things better for working people, the GOP is happy to override them.
