In 1996, I stopped using Macs because they sucked. Didn’t return until 2005. Why am I reminded of that?

@monkbent I could never use a Chromebook, but I have been thinking about returning to Linux. -
-
@danbenjamin@monkbent Dunno. I’ve been out of the loop for so long, all the distros have changed. Never used Linux on a laptop back then. -

@danbenjamin@monkbent Definitely software. I love the hardware I’m using. -
@drdrang@danbenjamin I’m curious (read: not argumentative): what don’t you like about OS X? Tried Linux but it took to much effort to use… -
@tjluoma@danbenjamin Hard to articulate. Apple software always felt right, like it was taking care of me. Now I feel I’m taking care of it. -
@drdrang yeah, I can understand that part. I disabled Gatekeeper because its annoyance greatly outweighs the likelihood of it protecting me.

@monkbent also I'm crying about excel. We can't get you into Stata? It can look like a spreadsheet but plays like a boss… -
@tofias I own it/know it. Great piece of software -
@monkbent care to suggest when will we get "Stata" for iPad (or android or whatever)? -
@tofias I’m not an iPad absolutist; there will always be room for the Mac. In fact, I’m quite critical of those that say otherwise. - 1 more reply
