@monkbent Except that reply suggests Android has value to OEMs without Google's cloud services, which seems misleading.

@jsnell but it does! There are 300m+ phones a year sold in China with alternative services. Doesn't MSFT prefer their own services anyways? -
@monkbent but I'm thinking of Samsung and HTC and the like, not MSFT. To be Real Android means using Google services. -
@jsnell yeah, and you can't do both. Condition of using Google services

@Demontrout@DrPizza sure. That’s why it was FUD. The whole point would be to substitute MSFT’s cloud services. -

@monkbent@BenBajarin AOSP is only successful in markets where access to Google services is either not allowed, or not desirable. -
@kevinwiseman@monkbent those markets also happen to be the fastest growing. -
@BenBajarin@monkbent segments "android" into local markets, while iOS remains global. Bad for Google, unappealing for MSFT -
@kevinwiseman@monkbent Perhaps or perhaps not. First time customers have to come from somewhere. -
@BenBajarin@monkbent I was referring to MSFT ceding US market to Google Android. Don't think MSFT can outcompete local AOSP either. -
@kevinwiseman@monkbent they keep Win Phone in my scenario for developed and use a differentiated AOSP where there is little differentiation
