@monkbent with multi-sided platforms, the threat of encroachment is always there - that’s why FB feels the need to play in all 8 arenas. -
@monkbent if the market does flip, they want to be there. Their participation, of course, adds momentum; undermining their current position. -
@monkbent one thing we can probably say, they seem adamant about not succumbing to the innovator’s dilemma. -

@monkbent no way around that though - that’s the crux of the dilemma. That’s why the Instagram strategy is interesting; FB as a holding co.
