Saying "People already know how it works" implies the addressable market for iOS is fully tapped. I don't think so, especially for iPad.

@monkbent It's like Kierkegaard on faith: every generation must work it out for itself anew. There's never a headstart.

@monkbent The plain white iOS 7 look says "this is for typing," which is far from the same thing.

@monkbent Absolutely. You can't quantify the warm, evocative experience of iOS 1-6. But it's hard to imagine iOS being successful w/out it.

@jaredsinclair read Jobs' quotes again in my last piece. Exactly what he was saying.

@monkbent The same ascetic Jobs from the old photo, cross-legged, in a nearly empty room, just a lamp and a stereo. It's not about taste.

@monkbent Feels like iOS 7 went too far, but not so far that Apple can’t course correct in iOS 8. Look at all the great 3rd party iOS 7 apps

@monkbent my wife, who has used iOS for years, asked me for a tutorial on the new Photos.app. Definitely some challenges to address in iOS 8

@drbarnard @monkbent I find iOS 6 photos harder to use. iOS 7 is also easier to use with VoiceOver.

@monkbent total addressable market for iOS is huge. Discovery and penetration is extremely difficult though. Hard to understand.

@monkbent I went to add something and it wasn't obvious how to do so, but once I realized how, it was more intuitive and touch friendly.

@monkbent like for instance, reminders iPad app used to have a 'plus' button to add a item, now you just tap on the line to add.

@monkbent I would argue that iOS still works much the same, just more modern. compare to Win7 - Win8, much less intuitive, huge market.

@monkbent indeed. But people do understand touch UIs better now than in ‘07. iOS 6’s level of intuitiveness is a bit redundant today.

@monkbent Maybe not, but how much of the addressable market consists of people who would be confident enough to explore an OS on their own?
