@monkbent What if Apple got all the value it could out of hardware+software integration but wasn't good enough on services?

@rjs I think they're ok, because the service providers (like Google) are incentivized to be on Apple's devices -
@monkbent Yeah and I guess as long as Google is modular wrt services their devices don't have an advantage over iPhone+Google apps. -
@rjs right, which they ought not to be. Google's model and Apple's model are very compatible in the long run -
-
@anandabits@rjs I argued that previously, but ultimately, I think Android was worth it -

@anandabits@rjs rationality on my part :) - 3 more replies

@monkbent So well written. So good. Love that you actually understand business. That cannot be said for other popular tech bloggers. -
@ericbdavies thanks, but everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Lots of stuff I'm not good at

@monkbent Loved your essay. Another "immeasurable": how much Apple has taught consumers to appreciate good tech UI/design in last 10 yrs -
@monkbent Irrational behavior of consumers becomes even harder to fathom for analysts who ignore the newfound appreciation for "experience" -
@anthonyjwu agree. Education a big part of it. Wrote about in 2010 paper -
@monkbent I'll definitely have to read it then!
