@monkbent that’s a weird decision to be honest.

@monkbent -> considering plastic is cheaper than metal. The only way I see it is profit margins. Good for Apple, not so good for us

@monkbent why switch to plastic? Colors? It’ll be interesting to see the raw cost of materials Also, what about next year? 5S thrown out?

@hsouris $10~$20 savings results in $30~$50 lower price. Plus, why not? Makes old product new

@monkbent yeah, I’m all for the ‘new product’ strategy, which is why I can’t fathom keeping the 4S around.

@monkbent that's basically status quo, just 5'C' instead of 5. Is that enough to qualify as "new"? I think ur right- "because... Colors"

@monkbent @gruber normally 5 would be $99/$550 price point - your suggesting essentially that 5C simply to offer more colors at $50 less?

@gruber @monkbent @SammyWalrusIV worth noting that Apple doesn't normally announce unsubsidised prices at launch events.

@kirkburgess @gruber @monkbent yet if I didn't include them in my post, people would say most of the world doesn't use subsidized.

@monkbent @gruber it would mean they’d have to cut 3.5” screens for just one device instead or the 4” for 4 devices (iPod Touch, 5C, 5, 5S).

@gruber @monkbent Makes sense esp when you look at next year. If the 5C was the "lowest" model, then it would be pushed out next year.
