@monkbent There’s more in it than you might think:

I wonder what Apple's margins are like on the Thunderbolt Display. Have to be insane, no?

@JMoVS interesting. And for the record, I have one. I just can't bring myself to get a second ;) -
@monkbent LOL. Maybe wait for an insane retina version? ^^ -
@JMoVS I'm going to want it so bad. That's part of the reason I'm not overdoing it now ;) Got a $150 21.5" IPS display (same pixel density) -
@monkbent You’d be laughing at me. ^^ MacBook Pro 13 " (worst density ever) + external 17 " monitor with same bad density... -
@JMoVS student life ;) -
@monkbent yep. ;-) -
@JMoVS I had the same MBP in graduate school and no external monitor… As for undergrad, I didn't even have a laptop :) - 1 more reply

@monkbent maybe today, but not when it was released; a thunderbolt dock is ~300 and a 27’’ used to be ~600 (now ~300). -
@giovannibajo yep - that's the key for most Apple products - best deal is the day they're released -
@monkbent stil I dont see room for insane margins there, especially since they don’t produce significant amount of units -
@giovannibajo well, the competition is making margin too...

@monkbent I went from 24” ACD to 27” ACD and now 27” ATD, love all of them, definitely worth the money. $1k is not a bad deal at all IMO. -
@ayn yes, I have one and I live it :) In fact, I love it so much I was thinking about buying a second... -
@monkbent do it! They’re prolly more expensive here though. -
@ayn significantly :( $34900
