@monkbent The A6 does not make sense for a non-retina iPad. The A5 will likely stick around for another year in the lower cost iPhone.

@azulum agree a6 is a dicey prediction. Will write why I think it's possible. -
@monkbent Indeed, it’s possible, even plausible, the cost of the A6 is not substantially more than the A5… -
@monkbent …but I highly doubt that any non-retina mini will ever get the A6, though I’m sure you will make a compelling argument. - End of conversation

@monkbent@marcoarment Bold to get rid of the larger iPad just yet. Lots of companies still use them for mobile productivity. We'll see. -
.
@cefranco2@marcoarment obviously still have full size retina ipad for $499

@monkbent@BenedictEvans Apple picks their price points very carefully then never changes them. But I have no theory for iPad 2 replacement -
@duncanwilcox@monkbent iPod prices changed plenty. -
@BenedictEvans@duncanwilcox exactly. iPod is a much better analogy for tablet market than phones for multiple reasons

@monkbent@marcoarment What price point do you think Apple will drop the current iPad mini to? $179 seems about right to me. -
@jesseauciello@marcoarment I'm not sure they'll keep it. As I argued yesterday, ipad is different than iphone -
@monkbent Your post is excellent, and your premise is likely correct, but even the iPod touch had a multi-generation lineup at one point. :)

@monkbent I think you’re wrong about the no-low-cost-large. Seems to have wide applicability for kiosks, point of sale, and even education. -
@liggs maybe. That square POS with 30-pin makes you wonder -
@monkbent Indeed. Though surely iPad line goes full Lightning by end of year.

@monkbent@marcoarment Maybe a bigger iPad for@siracusa ? -
@bobschulties@marcoarment@siracusa for me too! First day buyer -
@monkbent I think a 13” iPad could rock. Also funny since competition is chasing low end. I think.
