If you're accusing me of being a leftist i assure you i am not. I listen to Ben's pod. I don't think positing this email is helpful to the state of politics. I'm not defending Kurt AT ALL. But if me disagreeing with Ben warrants a flood of replies from his followers, so be it.

Got it. I understand where you're coming from. I also understand why Ben would post it. Kurt is known for attacking and then playing victim. Getting it out there where it can't be changed, denied, manipulated and used against him is a smart move. Ben fights back. I applaud him.

I was asking Ben questions. Reporting. If there was no Ben story - which would require more reporting - there was no story. If I could not write it without hurting the kid, I would not write it. Ben put the private email on the internet, despite my caution he might hurt the kid.

That's an awful standard for emails sent to one recipient.

I think a good rule of thumb is this: Don't send a threatening, insulting, or accusatory email to someone who doesn't owe you a legal duty of confidentiality unless you're willing to have the email published.

My Dad said the same thing. Over and over again. Good advice.

I forget who originally said this, but it’s been my rule of thumb for almost two decades: “Never put anything in an email that you wouldn’t want to end up on the front page of the New York Times.”
