Hiroshima contained: •Munitions factories •2nd General Army HQ •A major port •A military garrison of 40,000 soldiers (who were the largest group of casualties) The US dropped leaflets warning civilians to leave, and Japan had already ordered evacuation of children in April.

Yeaaah well done! Hiroshima was good. Totally justified. Nothing to feel ashamed of. In fact, you should repeat it again. Such a cool act and helps to bring peace.
-
You do realize that without the use of these bombs (on strategic cities) Japan would not have surrendered. This would result in a full scale invasion of mainland Japan that had estimates of more than 1 million casualties for combined Japanese and Americans.

This is probably the only time... that all is fair in whataboutism when Russia tries to claim moral superiority
-
It’s not whataboutism to acknowledge that fact that while the US has done some atrocious things and we’re an imperfect country, the USSR was exponentially worse for the world and its own citizen.
-
For sure. Kind of my point. It reads like whataboutism. But it’s Russia. Like in what world?

Also saved a million GIs and untold amounts of Japanese mil and civ. But don’t let me stop you from your POV.

No it didn't. That's just what they teach Americans in high school. Most historians agree the surrender of Japan had more to do with the Red Army invading Sakhalin than the A-Bombs. The bombs were unnecessary.
