Have you noticed it's gotten tougher to understand movie dialogue over the past few years? Do you have to turn on subtitles when you're watching something at home to catch every line? You're not alone. Here's what's going on, and a few potential fixes:

Top Gun: Maverick: Just because something is predictable doesn’t make it any less satisfying. It has a near-identical structure to the original, but with some added drama between Maverick and Goose’s son. Absolutely killer air action. It’s exactly what fans will want.

He always greeted me fondly, even though we barely knew each other. He helped me find a job when I was in desperate need of one, and put in a good word with the folks who eventually hired me. He always dressed like a pro, and he even gave me a couple of suit jackets at one point.

He suffered no fools. I remember attending a screening that started late because some “important” film critic was late, and Rocchi, seated in the crowd, yelled “Start the movie!” in that booming voice of his. He respected everyone’s time and expected the same in return.

This was my favorite quote of James’, and I still think about it often. His death is a gut punch. I was just breaking into writing about movies for a living when I met him, and his professionalism made an immediate impact on me.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of our former member James Rocchi, a wonderful critic, a sharp wit and a generous friend. He used to say, “I write about movies. Which means, really, I get to write about everything.” He did so beautifully.
