    In Edinburgh South West I am honoured to have received 1265 votes, double that of the Brexit Party and in 5th place (out of 7). I want to thank voters across Edinburgh South West for putting their faith in me and the Scottish Greens this election 🌱(4)

    I am super proud of the Green campaign we ran in Edinburgh. Every step of the way we pushed other parties to be stronger on action on climate change 🌍🔥, to be kinder when talking about all things Brexit and migration 💚 and to be fairer when talking about inequality ⚖️ (3)

    Two things are immediately clear to me, however. Firstly, we need urgent reform of our voting system to proportional representation 🗳. Secondly, we need a second independence referendum in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, and we need to begin rebuilding our Green Yes campaign for that now 🌱 (2)

    Today is a bleak day to be a progressive in UK politics. I am absolutely gutted about the result of the election UK-wide and it’s going to take some time to fully process that disappointment, and the horror I feel about the Conservative majority government (1)

    Next on our whistle-stop polling station tour of Edinburghs West and South West is Murrayfield Parish Church which seems busy! Hooray for turnout. This makes happy. 😃 Also met a chatty Green voter, which was very nice.
