The army is supposed to be politically neutral. It is one of their rules. Anyone surprised about a strictly hierarchical military organisation enforcing rules is not good with logic.

The army can be neutral, and is neutral. The service men and women don't have to be neutral. They still vote, they still get a voice on how the country is run. Maybe get a better understanding of logic

They do have to be neutral when they are in uniform.

They have to be neutral whilst following orders and in engagements. Uniform or not they have a damn voice. A man can turn up to a voting booth wearing an army uniform. The armed forces are neutral, they fight for their Queen and country.

No, army personnel must remain neutral when in uniform and/or on duty. Its pretty simple really.
