The problem with audiobooks is that unless I listen to them with 100% focus, I have 0 recall after 10 seconds.

It’s a good exercise in being present. How many times do you have to skip back?

Far too many times. I haven't been able to properly hear even one audiobook. With that said, I've only played them while I did something else, like while I was in the gym. You're right about the being in the present part - I zone out easily.

This could 100% be my fault though, I've trained myself to zone out to make time go quicker - when I'm jogging or on the cardio, an hour feels like a few minutes.

Hahaha Try it sometime! I've had some of my best insights and ideas after an hour or so of "blank slate" time. Especially if you're feeling 'stuck'. It's like resting your prefrontal cortex while keeping your physical body awake and moving.

I listened to only those audiobooks that I want to keep with me all the time, so sometimes after every listen, I get new epiphanies.

I listen on x 0.75 speed to give me more time to absorb what's being said and it's super effective.
Bonus: it also lessens my irritation with nasal American narrators. Somehow they seem more serious
