A high ranking archbishop, in an effort to "clear his conscience" as he nears death, published an 11 page letter calling out numerous homosexual predators and enablers in the hierarchy by name, and directly accusing the Pope of covering up abuses. This is massive, massive news.
He hasn't committed these crimes. He was reporting them on his death bed. The point I've made is that we don't know what repercussions he may have faced if he'd done so earlier.

I understand that he didn't commit them. Why give him a complete pass? He knee it was happening and never reported to authorities. A college football coach knew another coach was doing the same. He was hated! What's the difference? A man of God should be proactive.
-
I'm not giving him a pass. I'm simply reserving judgment.
-
I may have misunderstood you; you meant that the dying priest shouldn't have to suffer for the offending priests' sins? I'd agree. However, as a Christian, he is called to ALWAYS do what is right, even if he suffers for it, as Christ did on the cross. Glad he revealed it.

Absolutely
-
Right. The dying priest could have acted sooner. We wish he had done. However, I'd stop short of damning him.
-
I have not, and will not damn him. If he is a follower of Christ, his sins are completely forgiven. It's also my position, as a Christ follower, to forgive.
