How does one go about choosing one field? The above mentioned fields don't overlap much hence I don't know how to merge those. At the same time, I am unable to let one go and focus on the other. Is it true that we can only focus on one at least until we graduate? What do I do?3/3

Why is trending? China's outbreak was linked to a live fish market. If humanity keeps farming animals, pandemics and superbugs will continue. This is why people call meat made without animals "clean meat," cleaner figuratively and literally.

The penultimate episode of Bojack Horseman—'The View From Halfway Down'—is one of the best episodes of television I've ever seen.

There's a still uncertainty about what we know about the Coronavirus, but given some comparators and some reflection on our past responses, this seems extreme if motivated purely by concerns about the spread.

I forced a bot to watch over 1,000 hours of Curb Your Enthusiasm and then asked it to write an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm of its own. Here is the first page.

I'm one of 80 Australian Laureates calling for urgent action on climate. The government will do its best to ignore us, as it has done in the past. We have to keep on pushing. via

As senators consider whether to seek inconvenient evidence in the trial, they also weigh how they will look at themselves in the mirror; a process Zack Grossman and I analyzed in “Self-image and willful ignorance in social decisions”.

Equally excited to share the updated version of our paper ()! It's got a new title and new data, but the story is still the same... Namely, people want to follow the canonical axioms in decision theory and many classic violations of the axioms are "mistakes."

New podcast out! and I talk about recent work I’ve been doing at the Global Priorities Institute, how likely existential catastrophe is this century, and the culture of EA. It was a fun one!

This isn't so much a rebuttal of the arguments against billionaire philanthropy put forward by as an outright massacre:

Big news in cultured meat today: closed its Series B with $161M, by far the largest influx of money into the field to date. This includes plans to build a first-of-its-kind pilot facility in the Bay Area to make meat without animals.

Nothing improves prose like reading it aloud. It's slow and painful, which is why most people don't do it. But as taught me, there's no surer way of catching your glitches than to speak your sentences.

As an economist I have to be a stereotype and say INCENTIVES MATTER! As rightly points out, by lowering the benefits for voting someone out (and increasing the cost), people will naturally take less risks in response.

I would love to see a similar chart for the NFL with 4th down attempts vs punts/field goals.
