We were driving through Beaverton (Oregon) when an old memory came to me: this was the home of HAL America. Yes, HAL, the Kirby/Smash/Iwata game company, once had an American office! I had some friend who worked here, and it was filled with teens testing Adventures of Lolo 2.
A photograph of a low-slung, single story concrete 80's office building. It is painted two-tone gray and white. The windows are set back and tinted. The number "25" is on the side. The sky is beautiful.

We celebrate the life of Nichelle Nichols, Star Trek actor, trailblazer, and role model, who symbolized to so many what was possible. She partnered with us to recruit some of the first women and minority astronauts, and inspired generations to reach for the stars.

Question: When I was a kid, I sometimes felt like I was physically falling when going to sleep. Back then I thought that’s why we call it “falling asleep.” To this day, if I imagine myself falling I go to sleep faster — does this happen to anyone else?

Wow, I have never seen this before. Looks like an ASR-33 keyboard without the teleprinter components, designed for computer use (ca. 1964)

Between this, the Alzheimer’s amyloid plaque study fraud, and the disputed serotonin/depression link, I’m starting to wonder what percentage of medical advice we follow is just arbitrary
