I don't mean if I someone tells me hey that's bigoted/uses AAVE when I'm not black, I own up and apologize--I'm not going to QRT to pick a fight. If I go 'I don't like to read this kind of books' and you turn up to scream at me then you're using me as a punching bag.

Especially not when the person trying to use me as a punching bag is some cishet white man. Low follower count isn't an axis of marginalization, babe.

This happens with surprising frequency because there are people who actually keyword search for 'Disney' or 'Hairy Potty' (with the right spelling) or some ancient anime to pick fights with total strangers, and then they cry and whine if you QRT them.

Being marginalized isn't a choice. The sequence of actions that makes you type in keywords and hit enter, and then camp out in someone's mentions to shriek at them ('if you don't like this old anime made by a man, you hate rape survivors!'), is however very much a choice.

yeah, and also, if you're keeping an eye on who follows you then you can know that nobody's really going to chase someone that far, like if they mute the thread then nobody's going to just set up shop in their other mentions

Someone showed up in my mentions earlier today to say I don't understand anarchism b/c I said cops try to infiltrate anarchist groups... through a rt by someone they don't follow... And basically used me as an excuse to yell their weird ideas at someone???
