You don’t need a poppy to remember

No, but it’s a pretty basic demonstration of remembering. And buying a poppy funds important work by the British Legion.

Not wearing a poppy does not necessarily equate to forgetting.

I know people who put money in thy tins but don’t wear a poppy
-
That’s me. I always wore a poppy, even in the 1990s as a teenager when it was very unusual for a teenager to do cos my Nan describing manning a barrage balloon in the east end had a big impact on me. I stopped when Nigel Farage and co started telling me I had to but still donate.

Please don’t be the poppy police. There’s a lot more to remembering than a symbol pinned to your coat.
-
That's what happens when you turn it from a solemn symbol of rememberence to a weapon in a culture war.

in Judaism you light a candle on the anniversary of a significant death e.g. parent, sibling or brother. Except I never do. I remember and think of those I've lost every day. And the same applies to Remembrance Sunday.
-
parent, sibling or partner... Tweet in haste, retweet at leisure.

that is unfair. people are able to pay their respects and remember the sacrifices made without having to wear a poppy. a poppy doesn't uniquely enable that.
-
Exactly. Less of the woke-shaming !
