The agreement will see informal 'community-based education' for girls and boys set up by NGOs for the first three grades of school. In insurgent -controlled areas, the Taliban will pick the teachers, but they will have to pass a test set by Afg government.
@UNICEFAfg says the Taliban asked them for the schools. @a_a_jackson says 'By bringing schools to their areas and attracting education funding, [the Taliban] are attempting to show Afghans they can provide something”
NGOs already run some of these informal schools in Taliban areas, but this agreement will see as many as 4,000 across the country.
This is great news. As long as they don't turn these kids to fanatic extremists
