    My heart really breaks for Megan. And I think she’s an only child (don’t quote me on that). Lord. As an only child myself I dread the day. I know she has a solid sister-friend group. Hope she is surrounded by love.

    Death makes you question so much. But the thing that keeps coming up for me is: “Who is in your life and how do they show up?” Death reveals things & exposes people you wish it hadn’t. Makes me grateful for good people & friends who are like family.

    My grandmother passed on 2/28 & I found out on FB, a week after they’d already had the funeral. Unforgivable. But my girl made it to 90– the 1st of my 4 grandparents to go. If heaven is real I know she’s one person who made it. That woman lived for God. 🙏🏽

    One of the stories we had to edit for our client had two women who identified as queer, and my co-workers, all older, were taken aback/unsure if “queer” was the appropriate term. It was a no-brainer to me. Having young-ish, informed, progressive thinkers on staff is invaluable.

    So passed. Abortions in GA will be restricted to 6 weeks — before women usually even know they’re pregnant. Women are going to die. The number of illegal (unsafe) abortions will increase. Physicians will leave the state in fear of prosecution. Let’s get to work.

    It's wild how undervalued writing is as an actual skill— as if anybody can do it— when almost everything that makes society function requires writing: laws, policies, government, news, business websites, films, medical, everything. Put some respect on writers' craft!

    But I really love editing. I’m a writer through and through, & never thought I’d love editing. Idk that people know I’ve had quite a few editor positions, including at EBONY, bc I don’t publicize my jobs. You know black ppl don’t like telling ppl where they work lol.

    One thing my current role has reminded me is that writing and journalism are skills. Just because people are highly educated & know how to string a sentence together doesn’t mean they can write, or do journalism for that matter.

    I know we love Beth + Randall together, but he irks. His need for perfection, how he’s undermined Beth’s dream, the people pleaser in him. Annoying. Not as annoying as Kate, but yeah.

    Randall needs to give up this city council thing. I always had an issue w/him running— something he did on a whim in a city he doesn’t even live in. It’s Beth’s time to shine. His goals can take a beackseat to her dreams for once.
