It feels like Ruby makes the pain of bad code show itself much much faster than other languages

Seems like you can offload a lot of the mental load of code onto tools and types when using a compiled language. I wonder if this is subconsciously why some people dislike IDE's?

It's a lot easier to write a spaghetti mess when you can "find all references" in Visual Studio, for example

oh yeah got it- even something as simple as "not having tab-complete" ensures variables/etc.. are named _super_ consistently/descriptively - or else. haha it's like playing violin with a pin in your armpit to ensure good form :P
