Anyone have a good resource for genuinely understanding CSS? I can bang things together and roughly make them work, but.....some kind of foundational base would be nice

Have you checked out Tachyons? For whatever reason I find regular CSS hard to reason about, but this approach is way more understandable. It’s a neat CSS framework that inverts how CSS is used in an interesting way: https://github.com/dwyl/learn-tachyons/blob/master/README.md …

That isn’t to say you should abandon other information about CSS fundamentals, but it’s a nice reminder of the benefits to looking at problems from other angles
