at an object level, i feel like “products/artifacts built around a Google Maps list” (e.g. http://citynotes.co ) is a fairly unexplored niche

That’s a great way of putting it. Always loved Dan’s city notes, and tried pushing friends to build a similar city list thing years ago... highly curated lists around a specific purpose or job.
