I think most people's problems with post-work society is actually that we're terribly unimaginative about leisure. for all our yearning over the centuries for doing less work, we don't really know what to do with the time now that we're getting there
Yeah, I think a lot of it is "no one knows what they actually want, so they just want what everyone else seems to want"

I think it's also a visibility thing. People see, like, Richard Branson doing goofy stuff and think "wow I wish I could do that" but I think the number of people who would genuinely enjoy some version of that lifestyle is vanishingly small

The business decisions of the crazy wealthy feel inscrutable to most people but somehow people decide their leisure makes sense
