I guess city councils don't understand corporate advertising budgets
there's always been weird pockets of different fields bumping into each other where "a lot of money" means completely different things to the two parties
Yeah I think about that......a lot. Bumping into those fields as a freelancer is scary in a "boy I am valued VERY differently by a large chunk of the world" way
haha, I always have too. it's a crazy notion, I think, for employees who believe something like "this is my skillset, it's worth X in the market. I can hope for a raise to X+10% if I move to a new company" when sometimes it's more like "oh, I can make 20X or 50X over here"
Or the opposite of "boy if this market goes away this group of people value me at 1/2 what I'm used to being worth"
Haha, I'm either not pessimistic enough or too naïve: the market is awfully big, and riding these pockets is a tricky skill, but I have to assume there will always be outsized value ~somewhere~ to position into if / when the last wave peters out
Yeah I've been feeling pessimistic lately
