I feel like unity UI + lots of dynamic content has had performance issues in the past? I haven't checked in ages though
-
Don't think this game will be performance intensive but good to know!

I built the entirety of Unmatch in Unity UI. I got around the hierarchy depth issue by parenting objects to different panels, as a sort of layering system.
@UnmatchGame -
Yeah, ordering seems to be the main complaint I've heard so far

If you find out that's bad, let us know, because we're currently doing it too.

i've tried multiple times to build a "whole thing" (game/app) using ui canvases and not once has it worked out for me. honestly can't remember the whys, but at some point it starts getting not good. it's also very possible that I was being an idiot, though

-
Interesting! I could kinda see it getting unwieldy as a project grows

My first thought was performance, but I'd also be wary of changing resolution/scaling issues or need for post effects (guess it depends if you're doing screen space or world canvas).
-
Performance is really poor if your using layout elements or if your animating the Image components.
