Zoom has done what Dropbox or Skype did - taken a tech that had been around for years and broken it into a mass-market product. But how many voice apps are there now? Voice is in everything. The same will happen to video.
Zoom is the Skype of video. Next come Instagram and Snap - products that ask different questions. Zoom solved getting into a call, but *why* are you in the call?

Great post, again. Lots of companies appearing, loom, remotion, around, Jamm all thinking how video supports use cases. Video is commoditized (WebRTC) and agree it’s how does it support your needs, how does it help you engage?
this is a great piece asking the real questions behind the boom of video. with millions of people WFH the next years, I could see a scenario of "natural selection" with 2-3 players dominating the market. persona/professional use being the main divider like gmail/outlook
Presenting slides via video could be a good one for someone to solve
Nice post. Agree that video will quickly commoditize; I like your point about the calendar being the aggregation layer. This is where the real power resides. My bet is that embedded video in next gen apps are still subservient to the calendar layer.
