ML means phones will take perfect pictures. But it also means they might understand what’s in the picture and why you took it. What do they do with that? What does the discoverability and communication of AI look like, if you can answer lots of questions but might still be wrong?

One of these is correct. One fails down successfully to image search. And one is really wrong. Lots that’s interesting in this.pic.twitter.com/zMSiR0WsZa

Yeah, I don't see how AR glasses get to product market fit until object recognition improves dramatically. I'm skeptical that consumer-oriented glasses will succeed in gaining wide adoption within the next few years as a result.

Even the hardware is several years away from consumer price/size/performance.

Image metadata provides tons of context and is greatly underutilized. Linking pictures to actual events has numerous applications and benefits. Did you snap a photo at The Rolling Stones concert, Women’s March or your kid’s graduation?
-
Pictures can passively connect people through shared experiences and empower users by putting them in control on their data. Mick makes big $ on tour but doesn’t know who his core customers are! That’s a problem.

You are wrong. Yes, wrong. With logic like yours web search will never exist. The key is that people are also changing and use patterns are evolving.

Great post. Imo the app paradigm will dominate for quite a long time (i.e. an app for each vertical), especially as world gets more and more overlayed data and the discovery problem only gets worse.
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Cameras in the street, buildings, malls and everywhere will become intelligent, will talk to each other, discuss and will try to make sense of what they see. Cameras will make sense of what they hear. It will also speak or raise an alarm. It will no longer be a mute spectator.

Think of us walking into a shop and a chat bot greeting us. We walk to get toothpaste and it start chatting with us and suggesting options. Camera knows what it sees. It will know our mobile numbers and chatbot will start interacting like store staff will do. Many possibilities.
