Though protests are dispersing, this was likely largest uprising against Áñez govt, displaying historic power & capacity of mobilized sectors, significant autonomy from MAS, and showed resistance has grown rather than diminished under Áñez. It's a power beyond elections.

protests & diversity of demands now go beyond what MAS & COB are calling for, demonstrating independence from traditional left leaders. Such moments, when uprisings can't be contained & instead move/orient from below, have been most the revolutionary in Bolivian history.

These threats and language are not novel, and have roots in a history of massacres in the face of indigenous protest. And they are consistent with the Áñez government, which has committed systemic human rights abuses since seizing power last November. /4
