I should use the word "gentle" more when following up with people, when I'm wary of being seen as a pest. Just got an email from someone that was effective: "Hi Ben, hope you're well. Gentle ping to send over your..."

I have such a weird relationship to it: perfectly happy to receive a message like "gentle reminder" etc. but have extreme hesitation to use it because I think it'll come over too passive-aggressive.
