    Indeed, the fact that Krasikov wore a Vympel/FSB branded t-shirt 10 years ago is not stand-alone proof that the murder was organized by the FSB. However, it adds even one more straw to the overwhelming, holistic haystack of evidence showing namely that link.

    As we reported in our ground-breaking investigation, in the weeks before the murder, Krasikov was a frequent visitor to the Center for Special Operations outside Moscow. That facility is the home-base of the FSB's Vympel and Alfa Spetsnaz units.

    While the emblem, not clearly legible, might be one of a number of different FSB-linked units, it's closest match is the FSB's Special Operations Center. The lettering numbers and spacing matches.

    The evidence gathered by Bellingcat has been used in the Berlin trial, and plays a major role in identifying the suspect and connecting him to the Russian intelligence services. A guilty verdict that accepts this evidence would be highly significant, both in Germany and elsewhere

    In March of this year we were able to show photographs seized by Ukrainian authorities from the home of his in-laws in Ukraine showed further proof of the real identity of the suspect, confirming our previous work

    We later confirmed one of these individuals was Roman Yuryevich Demyanchenko, a former FSB Spetsnaz officer and current undercover FSB asset working under the cover of the Vympel Group of companies.

    It was also certain at least one, and likely more, individuals travelled to Berlin as part of the operation, all with connections to the FSB, including individuals linked to the assassination of a Chechen national in Istanbul in 2015.
