Annie Easley was not only an adept computer programmer who worked on vehicles like the Centaur upper-stage rocket — she was also a champion for equal opportunities in the workforce. Celebrate :

In 1955, Annie Easley began her career at NASA, then the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), as a human computer performing complex mathematical calculations.

More well-known for inventing the super-soaker water toy, this amazing human being is a real life rocket scientist-aerospace engineer. Kids, this proves of course it took a rocket scientist to invent the best toy for summer fun!

Bought my daughter a heating blanket. She looked at the directions. Plugged it in and calmly asked... "How long does it take to charge?" 😏

Earth physically rotates in 23hours 56min relative to distant stars – a Sidereal Day, BUT it takes 24hours to rotate relative to the Sun – a Solar Day The difference? Earth orbits the Sun, so the Sun appears to move (down, in the vid), which means Earth needs +4mins to catch up!
