That is probably it. I was just trying it experimentally (guess and check). I wanted to work out the correct math(s). I'm growing some cubes: scale(1 + t) and shifting all cubes (1 - 1/2t) There's a slope mismatch You already do this one. Want to just send me your code?

With these sorts of things you have to have a tween that takes off some at the same speed as you add to others, easy approach is to have one tween and any equation you like and then in the update either add or take away the update value, offset positions by half?
