What if the highlighted area rotated 120° each increment of the loop so that the “platforms” illusion changes orientation?
not sure how simple this would be... might clean up the code and post it then you could try yourself!

I think it would require that four regions can color cycle independently. Would love to see it! Huge fan of your work.
