Suggested it was the reason they’d got into design in the first place. He was also a Manchester design icon. So I managed (through loads of hard work) to get an email address for him. I wanted to ask him to write the foreword for the promo newspaper I’d designed for the event...

After a few weeks he replied to say he was too busy to do this. But he thanked me for asking. Not to be deterred I decided I’d try another angle. I wanted ‘a’ Peter Saville from Manchester to write the intro. Didn’t have to be ‘the’ Peter Saville...
