i like the fixed seed the most i think. if the seed isn't fixed it comes of as a little too chaotic to me.

Interesting. Are you tracking a 3D cloud of points, or is the sampling happening purely in 2D?

it’s 3D! each point is offset from its true position by a gaussian whose widh depends on z position.
