2. The headline on this piece referred to (and still returns to, in the thumbnail) "blue-collar voters" she says she talked to. Actually, she talked to a *general surgeon* and his rich family, and no one else.

3. Now the headline says something about "this Pennsylvania house," headed by Dr. Anthony Ripepi. She datelines it Venetia, disguising that everyone would ID Peters Township outside Pittsburgh as a place rich people live.

4. She writes, "They are the upper-middle-class suburban voters who live in a blue-collar. upper-middle-class exurb," either because she thinks that means something or because she gathers that her readers and all of us are stupid.

5. What a find, this Dr. Anthony Ripepi. Especially back when she first quoted him to embody all Trump supporters while downplaying his wealth, in November 2016. https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2016/11/11/trumps-voters-wont-mind-if-he-doesnt-keep-all-his-promises/?utm_term=.0a4c6af10f1a …pic.twitter.com/NKema2IN2Y

6. Or another time she quoted him, less than a month ago, January 2018. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/america-to-obama-stop-now-you-lost/article/2610925 …pic.twitter.com/AgW8xwPur4

7. For Pete's sake, Salena Zito *already did the thing where she wrote a whole column about this one guy*. February 2017.pic.twitter.com/2GaCgFnmKx

8. Interestingly, these four pieces appear in four different places. Maybe there were four different editors. It probably doesn't matter.

9. Still, the greatest sin here is Zito's implication that Doc Ripepi is some special kind of voter. Hems not. He is *literally* the 1 percent. He was always voting for Trump.

10. Shame on Salena Zito, her editors and these publications. A national writer shouldn't use the same guy four times in 15 months to represent a whole segment of the electorate, even if he *was* the blue-collar average Joe she implied he is.

Thank you
@jakebackpack for flagging today's bad column, and thank you Google for existing and making it extremely easy to find all of this.Show this thread
