weird thing abt PokemonGo getting full goog account access is that iOS showed no permission dialog. goog should just revoke their app tokens

@bcrypt that is between goog and Pokemon, not sure why iOS would show a prompt

@0xcharlie i meant Niantic didn't show a prompt in the iOS app. (it's not an issue on the ANdroid version)

@bcrypt While I agree with this - yes, they absolutely should - they never will because of the fallout they'll create with Niantic.

@ultimateloather what fallout? Niantic doesn't need full acct access for any functionality; it shouldn't cause breakage

@bcrypt They don't - but millions of kids suddenly not being able to log into their accounts because of revoked tokens won't go over well.

@ultimateloather they don't need to revoke the tokens entirely, just cancel the unneeded permissions server-side

@bcrypt @ultimateloather am I missing something, but niantic is a Google company, do you expect Google to ask Google for permissions

@DevTroy @ultimateloather Niantic is not part of Google nor is it part of Alphabet afaict.https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/aug/14/niantic-labs-departs-google-alphabet-ingress …

@bcrypt Niantic (Pokemon Go's editor) is a Google company. So I don't think they want to revoke any token :p

@bcrypt Niantic Labs is a functional offshoot of Google. The bug is the feature.

@WaltFrench @rosyna it's not an apple issue, i put 'ios' in there to distinguish from niantic's android app

@bcrypt isn't it on Google to show that permission dialog though? Either Google didn't or they spoof out of it. Either way, bad Google imo.

@jaspertandy yah, either way >99% of ppl aren't going to revoke app access themselves

@bcrypt I want to but fortunately I'm using a brand new apps email with nothing in it so I'm just going to not hand it out for a while.
